As part of our drive to secure the next generation of talented young people to join the technology industry, ESTnetNG took tech to the road in February for three days of technology roadshows.
As part of our goal to encourage and inspire young people to choose a career in technology, the best way to do so is for them to meet the fantastic tech companies we have in Wales and let them sample first-hand the opportunities available in the region. The roadshows also provided us with an opportunity to showcase the ESTnetNG Tech Prize to enthusiastic young students across Wales.
Our first stop – Aberystwyth University for the Ceredigion Careers Festival.
Over 1,300 pupils attended the single day event which was packed full of lively discussions and hands-on activities for everyone to engage with. The technology Zone played host to;
- Telemat IT Support
- The Open University
- And ESTnet Members, Pugh
Next up, the technology zone was at Parc-Y-Scarlets for the eagerly anticipated Skills Cymru, Carmarthenshire. This two-day event welcomed over 4,000 pupils and provided them with an opportunity to gain crucial insight into the vast range of career opportunities available, as well as raising awareness of the pathways that can be taken.
Joining over the course of the two days was ESTnetmembers;
- Cardiff University Computer Science & Informatics
- Vortex IoT
- CSA Catapult
- and KSR Electronic Systems
We would like to thank our members who supported Skills Cymru, and the ESTnetNG as we work towards securing the workforce required for Wales and the Welsh economy.
