Intern Opportunitiy

Sonocent Ltd

Job Description - The Role

Sonocent is an educational technology company with a big vision: “Helping people harness the power of spoken language”. Our passion is helping students significantly improve a broad range of core skills from note taking to speaking, listening and comprehension.

For hundreds of millions of students around the world, difficulty in effectively reading or writing is a barrier to learning. We want to remove that barrier by supporting the development of those skills with our technology.

To date, over 120,000 students at more than 300 institutions around the world have used our software, and, for many, it has led to improved grades and greater learning independence. This is an exciting time for us as we enter a period of rapid growth. It’s going to be an exciting journey and we’re looking for exceptional individuals to join us along the way.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

We predominantly use the Microsoft stack (C#.NET, C++, ASP.NET, Core), making use of Xamarin and Mono to provide as much common code as possible across the different target platforms, but then add in platform-specific bits where necessary.

Sonocent’s product roadmap depends on evolution towards a SaaS model, which means that our web-based solutions will become increasingly important. These currently use Microsoft ASP.NET + MVC, but as we migrate towards SaaS, there will inevitably be increasing need for client-side cleverness, so it's likely that a Javascript framework such as Angular, React or Ember will also be involved.

We are seeking candidates with energy, enthusiasm, creativity, and a passion for delivering the best possible user experience. Demonstrable software development experience (preferably within a collaborative environment) is a requirement, but experience with our technology stack is less important than a coherent grasp of software development principles, and a capacity for rapid and effective self-learning.
